Our Mission:

The Cider House Theatre, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, operates solely on volunteer efforts for the purpose and benefit of the community of Nebraska City and surrounding areas to provide and encourage the expanding media of performing arts as an entertainment and education venue for its participants and patrons.

Theatre Profile:

The Cider House Theatre produces four-six theatrical shows per year in addition to various special events.  The Theatre is governed by a six-member board of directors who actively participate in all aspects of The Theatre.

How it Began:

An organizational meeting of The Cider House Theatre was held July 31, 2003, when the theatre organizer,  Jim Frerichs, made his dream a reality, by selecting the first Board of Directors.  Over the following months, with the help of local media, family, and friends such as Dr. Royal Eckert and Kevin Colbert, The Cider House Theatre at 1422 1st Corso took shape. 

By September 2003, The Theatre became an incorporated entity and joined the Nebraska City Community Foundation to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The first production, "Sorry Wrong Chimney" sold an amazing 388 tickets, proving there was support for a communtiy theatre.

Beginning with the 2004 season, The Cider House Theatre presented six shows, each with 10 performances.  Over 2400 people attended events at The Theatre during it's first full season. 

The Board of Directors, actors, and volunteers at The Theatre diligently strive to provide live entertainment in an intimate environment at a reasonable price.
